About me
Jake Joonhong Kim is a technology entrepreneur leading the on-chain transformation of South Korea’s financial industry. Since founding FairSquare Lab (FSL) in 2018, he has focused on integrating blockchain technology into institutional finance, drawing on 30 years of experience across technology and traditional finance, including a background at Mirae Asset Financial Group. Under his leadership, FSL has grown into Korea’s leading infrastructure technology provider for on-chain finance.
In 2020, Jake founded Korea Digital Asset Custody (KDAC), which became the first VASP-licensed custody provider in Korea. He went on to establish Kloint, a specialized on-chain security and intelligence firm, rounding out the ecosystem needed to support institutional digital assets. FSL now plays a key technology role in major national initiatives, including the KDX Consortium—a Korea Exchange (KRX)-led OTC market for security tokens (STOs) and fractional investment—and UniKA, a KRW-pegged stablecoin alliance involving more than ten major Korean banks.
Jake holds an MBA from IE Business School and is currently completing his Ph.D. in Finance at Korea University. Through sustained innovation and a clear strategic vision, he continues to be a driving force behind the digital transformation of South Korea’s financial landscape.
